Why Diamond Certification Is Non-Negotiable

Never buy an uncertified diamond. A certificate issued by an accredited gemological laboratory guarantees that an unbiased team of scientists evaluated your diamond using advanced spectroscopy, microscopic optical analysis, and electronic spectrophotometers.

Proof of Authenticity

Scientifically confirms the stone is 100% genuine crystallized carbon with Mohs 10 hardness, distinguishing real diamond from stimulants like cubic zirconia and moissanite.

Growth Method Disclosure

Accredited labs explicitly certify whether the lab diamond was created via CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) or HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature), and if any post-growth enhancement was used.

Laser Inscription Security

Every stone has its unique certificate number microscopic laser-inscribed on the girdle. You can match the physical diamond to its digital laboratory database registry with a 20x loupe.

Accurate Fair Value

Ensures you never overpay for an inferior cut, yellowish tint, or cloudy clarity grade. Certification protects your investment and ensures seamless worldwide insurance appraisal.

How to Read a Diamond Grading Report

Whether you hold an IGI report, GIA dossier, or GCAL certificate, all legitimate reports contain 8 critical data points that establish your gemstone's identity and value:

Unique alphanumeric registry code identifying your stone in the laboratory's cloud database. The date reflects when the grading team completed physical verification.

States the geometric cut (Round Brilliant, Oval, Emerald, Radiant, etc.) and physical millimeter measurements: Length x Width x Depth to the nearest hundredth of a millimeter.

Exact carat weight measured on micro-carat electronic balances, color grade from D (colorless) to Z, clarity grade from Flawless (FL) to Included (I3), and cut grade for round and fancy cuts.

Polish: Smoothness of facet surfaces under 10x magnification.
Symmetry: Exact alignment and facet junction balance.
Fluorescence: Reaction to long-wave UV light (None, Faint, Medium, Strong).

Crucial section stating: "Laboratory Grown Diamond. This diamond is Type IIa created by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) [or HPHT] and may include post-growth treatment."

Frequently Asked Questions About Diamond Certification

Everything you need to know about diamond grading laboratories, laser inscriptions, and report verification.

IGI (International Gemological Institute) is recognized worldwide as the #1 leader for lab grown diamonds. IGI certified lab grown diamonds represent over 85% of the global retail and wholesale market. IGI pioneered full 4Cs grading for lab diamonds decades ahead of other labs and provides transparent CVD/HPHT growth process disclosures. GIA and GCAL are also outstanding premium options.

While GIA historically maintained a slightly stricter color standard on natural diamonds, modern comparative studies show that for lab grown diamonds, IGI and GIA grades align within 1 color/clarity grade over 95% of the time. For cut quality, IGI's "Ideal" cut grade is renowned in the lab diamond industry for precision, while GCAL 8X is the strictest optical light-performance grade in the world.

You can verify your diamond in three simple steps:
  1. Inspect the Girdle: Use a 20x jeweler's loupe or digital microscope to locate the micro-laser inscription on the diamond's outer edge (e.g. LG623489102).
  2. Online Verification: Visit the official website of the grading lab (e.g. igi.org or gia.edu) and input the certificate number into their Report Check tool.
  3. Check Measurements & Inclusions: Confirm that the millimeter dimensions and inclusion plot match the physical stone.

Yes. All accredited laboratories state that a lab grown diamond is 100% genuine diamond—identical in chemical composition (crystallized carbon), crystal structure, optical brilliance, and physical hardness (Mohs 10) to earth-mined diamonds. They explicitly distinguish it from diamond simulants like cubic zirconia and moissanite.

Absolutely. While our standard loose solitaire stock is certified by IGI for optimal international liquidity and wholesale value, we regularly facilitate GIA, GCAL 8X, or HRD certification upon customer or wholesale jeweler request directly through our Surat facility before worldwide dispatch.
